With Grans bardisses, Quim Masó Award 2025, Llàtzer Garcia manages to turn pain and loss into fiction. It is a sensible and honest fiction, deeply human.

Three sisters decide to spend the day of Sant Jordi in 'Grans bardisses', a refuge that their father built in an inhospitable environment. It will be a meeting full of memories and absences. At some point, an unforeseen event will become a turning point. This piece is a device, a little tale “without plot, without ending,” as Chekhov would say. It is a moving picture created, perhaps, by demons and ghosts, that the theatre allows us to look at.

Absence becomes present in a text that runs through our hearts.
